There are many workable ways to help you solve this external hard drive not mounting after Ventura update problem.

Make sure your HDD is successfully connected:

You can first unplug and replug your drive. You can try another USB port or cable or some new adapter.

Reboot your Mac in Safe Mode:

  • Shut down your Mac and press the power button to launch your Mac
  • Hold the Shift key and wait for the Apple logo to appear
  • Release the Shift key and log in when the window displays

Update your Mac:

  • Go to "Settings" > "General" > "Software Update"

Quit the fsck process:

  • Enter the command in the Terminal: sudo pkill -f fsck

Reboot your Mac while your HDD is connected:

  • Restarting your Mac is also a workable way to resolve this drive issue. If you are using Silicon Mac, you may receive a prompt that asks you to allow the drive to connect to your Mac. Just agree with it.
