Should You Update BIOS Before Installing a New OS?

I ordered myself a new CPU. Should I install Windows 10 and then do a BIOS update, or should I update the BIOS first? Any suggestions will be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

It really doesn't matter whether you need to update your BIOS before installing a new Windows operating system. Now, a BIOS update is not precisely necessary unless you are required to do so.

In general, you should not need to update your BIOS that often. It is worth noting that it is a good idea to install the latest BIOS update. Often, this will not impact anything with the OS, but it can give you added functionality or at least bug fixes.

If you plan to install Windows 11 on your computer, you need to ensure your computer can meet the Windows 11 requirements. The BIOS update may be necessary if your current version does not support these requirements. And you have many ways to help you update the BIOS. For example, you can update BIOS without a CPU.

However, it is always a good idea to create a backup of your Windows computer before installing a new OS or updating your BIOS in case anything goes wrong on your computer. For this, you can use professional backup software like EaseUS Todo Backup.

It is a simple yet practical backup utility for Windows computers. It can back up your system, file, disk, computer app, etc., and store your backups in different locations, such as local and external drives, NAS, Security Zone, and Cloud.

In addition, it allows you to transfer your Windows 11 to another computer and create a Windows system image on a USB. Most importantly, you can have 250G cloud storage for free to protect your data.

It is not necessary to update your BIOS before installing a new operating system. At the same time, it is a good idea to back up your computer via professional backup software such as EaseUS Todo Backup.
