Transferring an OEM (manufacturer version) of Windows 7 from a laptop to a newly built computer. Is this possible? I've read that, but I don't really know how to do that. Can someone help me?

It is possible to transfer an OEM of Windows 7 from a laptop to a newly built computer. However, you cannot move the license key of OEM Windows 7, which is preinstalled in the computer's motherboard that it first registers.

The key to success depends on whether you can find reliable and effective OS transfer software. Luckily, EaseUS Partition Master has your back on migrating OEM Windows 7 to another disk and then booting it from the new computer.

Let's get straight to the step-by-step guide on transferring Windows 7 OEM using EaseUS Partition Master:

It's wise to back up the C drive data before officially starting in case the migration fails.

Step 1. Take out and connect the hard disk of your newly built computer to the old laptop.

Step 2. Enter EaseUS Partition Master and find the "Disk Clone" tool.

Step 3. Choose the "Migrate OS" option and check the source and target disk. Click "Next."

(Ensure the popping warning message by clicking "Yes," then preview your target disk's layout and customize it.)

Step 4. After these, click "Start" to proceed.

In addition to transferring Windows, EaseUS Partition Master can offer you other useful features, including cloning disk to SSD, formatting the external hard drive, and freeing up the C drive.

Put the disk back into the new computer when the transfer work is done, and set it as the boot drive as follows:

Now you can try to transfer your OEM Windows 7 to the new PC and contact Microsoft to reset the activation codes.
